The Plié Stool's form language is informed by the natural expression of sheet metal and how it distributes tension and curves along its surface. The corner bend is created from a curved profile being bent against its grain.
Doing so in 2 different directions creates 2 different stool profiles, and offsetting them within each other accentuates the contrast between the forms, while harmonising them within the assemby.
To connect the 2 forms, single plug welds were made on the internal walls. This avoids disrupting the outer facade, and the stool's stability is relies on the inherent strength of curved profiles.
